A frustrated Nasir Husain had then gone back to Asha Parekh and the two had worked out their dates to make the film happen. Since she was busy at the time, she had recommended Nanda, who had turned the role down since it was not glamorous. Asha Parekh was Nasir Husain's first choice for the lead role in this film.He took over this film and offered "Teesri Manzil" (1966) to Vijay Anand. While Nasir Hussain moved on and signed up Shammi Kapoor to replace Dev Anand in "Teesri Manzil" (1966), he had a change of heart about who would be directing the two films. Dev Anand, offended by the fact that his brother was doing a black & white film starring the rank newcomer Rajesh Khanna, had a bitter argument with Nasir Hussain and walked out of a film he was doing with Husain at the time - "Teesri Manzil" (1966). He had even started working on its script based on Arthur Miller's play "Death Of A Salesman" (1949). This film was launched with Vijay Anand as the director.
